What to Expect in the For Honor Campaign

These tips will help you on your path to completing the story mode in For Honor. For a complete look at every mission in For Honor, make sure you check out IGN's video walkthrough of the game here on the For Honor Wiki guide.

For Honor Campaign Rewards

Completing the campaign in For Honor is helpful for scoring extra steel, loot, and more for use in multiplayer. If your main focus is just the multiplayer modes online, you're going to want to finish the story mode anyway. Doing so the first time gives you steel and loot boxes, as well as achievements/trophies.

You can play through the main story over and over again for extra rewards, especially on higher difficulties. Though harder, playing each mission on a tougher difficulty setting will give you a larger multiplier of rewards for your multiplayer profile. Even if you finish the story one time, you're rewarded with a huge amount of loot to spend to Scavenge Gear or unlock extra heroes.

You also earn extra emblems and color schemes for your heroes in the customization section, as well as your emblem for your online profile. These are unlocked once you complete a given chapter for each faction and finish the entire story mode.

How Long is For Honor campaign?

There are six missions per Faction in the story mode of For Honor, leading to a total of 18 missions for the entire story. Missions can average between 10 - 15 minutes, depending on the difficulty level you are playing on.

The total time for the entire story mode, from start to finish, on Normal difficulty is between 4 - 5 hours in length. Harder difficulties may take longer to complete because of the stronger A.I. enemies. Playing story mode in Co-Op can also affect the length of the entire game.

Combat in Story Mode

These tips will help you gain the advantage in combat against enemies when playing story mode. Unlike in multiplayer, the combat experienced in story mode will be determined by the mission you play.

For more details on combat, see our Tips and Tricks page.

Using Feats in story mode

Unlike in multiplayer, the campaign has a given selection of Active and Passive abilities that you can obtain for each mission. These include giving health boosts, attack or defense buffs, and much more.

Completing a mission gives you Story XP, which unlocks newer and stronger feats each time you level up. You can replay missions again for extra story XP, completing story missions on harder difficulties can give even more XP to level up all of your feats and abilities.

These Feats can make the difference between an easy or tough mission in story mode. Before starting each mission, you can select two feats to equip. Your class and character is predetermined, but your feats and abilities are not. Using them at the right moment during combat can make the difference between victory or defeat against enemies.

Defeat Enemies quickly with Environmental hazards

Much like the multiplayer matches online, tough opponents can be defeated easily in one way or another. The NPC enemies that you find throughout each mission can be killed in far easier ways than just hacking & slashing. they can be thrown off cliffs or pushed into other hazards nearby. This will result in an instant death to even on the toughest of enemies.

Most duels that take place during each chapter of the story will have a convenient environmental hazard nearby that you can take advantage of. You can guard break and push them or aim your slashes in the direction you see them. This works especially well in duels with tough boss-like enemies towards the end of a mission.

If you find yourself having trouble against a tough A.I. opponent, then pay attention to your surroundings for a quick solution to your problem. It'll make the battle a whole lot easier than before.

Use Items and Extra Feats in Combat

There are a number of extra feats and items you can pick up during a mission. These are super helpful in most situations and can make a difficult situation much easier. These items and feats you can pick up include:

  • Smoke Bombs - Stun enemies for a brief period of time
  • Explosive - Throw a fire bomb that lights the area on fire, can bring down structures and towers
  • Fire Arrows - Shoot a flaming arrow at a target that deals additional burn damage over time
  • Archers - Order a group of archers to attack with a barrage of arrows on a give location.
  • Catapult - Order a catapult strike onto a given location.
  • Throw Block - Become immune to guard break throws for a short time
  • Unblockable - All of your attacks become unblockable for a short period time

You can only hold one extra feat or item at a time. If you find a better one on the ground, you must discard the previous feat or item you obtained before grabbing the new one. Any feats or items you pick up can be used in conjunction with the feats you equipped before starting the mission.

Finding Collectibles in the For Honor Campaign

There are two types of collectibles that can be obtained in For Honor's campaign. Breakable Objects and Observables. Finding these while completing the objectives of each mission will reward you in various ways in both single player and multiplayer. You'll want to find all of these collectibles to obtain all of the rewards possible for your profile.

Breakable Objects are groups of pots that you find placed around each mission. When you break the pots, you will see a small icon that can be collected just by walking over it. Collecting each of the breakable icons during a mission will give you more steel to spend on recruiting new heroes for multiplayer and/or gear to scavenge in Scavenge Gear. You can gain a huge boost in steel by taking the time to find each in every story mission.

Observables are locations you can see off in the distance that are key locations in the world of For Honor. Triggering them will have Apollyon give you a monologue detailing the history of the location, as well as it's relation to the Faction War.

NOTE: Triggering a cutscene will immediately stop Apollyon's dialogue if you move to the next section of a mission after finding an observable. So if you want to hear the full Apollyon dialogue, you may want to stay near where you triggered the observable before moving on.

For the specific locations of every Breakable Object and Observable, visit the IGN Collectibles page here on the For Honor Wiki. There are details on where to look and find them all when playing Story Mode.
